Hi, we're the Harris'. In 2019, my wife Caroline and me, Adam, with our two dogs, Tazzie and Shona, moved to the beautiful Alexander Valley in Sonoma County, California, to start our dream, the Cù Dona winery.
Cù Dona is the Scottish Gaelic term for “Bad Dog!” It is a humorous reference to our two wonderful, joyous, loyal and playful canine companions, Tazzie and Shona, but
also to our love of animals.
We grow, produce, and bottle our wines on the land we call home at the very top of the majestic Alexander Valley.
Our soil is distinctly different from the Valley floor and superbly suited to allow us to grow the highest quality fruit. The estate vineyard is planted with specific lots of Petit Sirah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Mourvèdre, all of which can be enjoyed as individual varietals. We also enjoy great relationships with nearby farmers in the Valley and high up on Pine Mountain. This allows us to expand and incorporate local bounties with our fruit to create amazing Rhône and Bordeaux-style blends.
We use simple, straightforward winemaking tools and practices. Proudly, our winery is one of a few committed to sustainability and innovation through the use of the new modern cooperage system found in our cellars. This gentle aging system using entirely 100% new French oak, coupled with the blessing of our land, has allowed us to bring our wine to you unfined and unfiltered.
We never imagined how hard farming, producing, and all of the other facets of the process to deliver great wines to the table would be when we started. All said the results have truly made this a labor of love and, ultimately, pride.
We’re sure you’ll enjoy it!
